Tutor's Teaching Philosophy

I believe that every student is capable of achieving greatness and has a role to play in the society. My role as a teacher is to facilitate them in their journey towards success. Students learn best when they are held to high expectation and when they are constantly trusted to be better. My goals for my students are for them to find their unique self and accept the difference in others.

A teacher should be open minded, curious and is sensitive to the needs of the students. And because all students are unique in their own rights, my role as a teacher is to constantly stretch and meet their respective intelligences to maximise their learning experience.

I owe my students my diligence to constantly challenge them, to be better everyday and to always have faith in them. I want my students to know that they are seen and understood, and to know that they have a unique role to play in this world.

Lawren Lim

The Tutor

I am a Law graduate from Multimedia University, Melaka and am currently pursuing my Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (International Baccalaureate) in Fairview University College, Kuala Lumpur.

The 12 years spent in Sekolah Kebangsaan for my primary and secondary school years immersed myself in an environment where Bahasa Melayu and English speaking quickly became a second nature. I am also able to speak in Hokkien and to a lesser extent, Mandarin. I believe that my ability to communicate in a variety of languages allows me to explain to the students in the manner most receptive to them.

I count myself to be fortunate to have met distinguished teachers and lecturers that had helped me along the way. This gratitude now becomes the foundation of my commitment to help out students, bridging them to their best potential.

My time in law school trained me to refine bulky information into simple concepts to better understand them which then leads to easier retention of knowledge. While knowledge is important, my involvement in law moots and debating tournaments later taught me the importance of applying knowledge retained, and to communicate information and arguments effectively. I aim to put these experiences to good use by employing these methods to help students better understand concepts in their syllabus.

I believe that good teachers will be able to cultivate curiosity in students which will later translate into aspiration for life-long learning. I strive to be this teacher in my students' lives.
